A New Website for Memories Dementia Café

Libertas Software Research sponsored, designed and hosts the new website for Memories Dementia Café in Craigavon, available in English, Gaeilge and Ulster-Scots. The domain belongs to the café.

Proud to share something a bit different from our usual client announcements.

The new website for Memories Dementia Café is live: memoriesdementiacafe.org

Every Thursday afternoon, a team of volunteers at St Anthony's Hall in Legahory, Craigavon, welcomes around 35 people each week: those living with dementia, those caring for them, and those who simply want to support them. There's tea, music and singing, memory activities, and good conversation. No booking, no pressure, and no right or wrong way to take part.

Our community project

At Libertas Software Research, we chose to sponsor the website as our community project of choice. We designed it, we host it, and the domain belongs to the café. It's theirs.

We built it to feel the way the café does: warm, unhurried and easy to use. Clear information on where to go and what to expect, accessibility details up front, a phone number for anyone who needs help with transport, and the site available in English, Gaeilge and Ulster-Scots.

Why it matters

After 27 years in software, this is the kind of work that reminds me what it's for. A website can't replace a cup of tea and a friendly face, but it can make it easier for someone to take that first step through the door.

If you know someone who might benefit, please pass it on. And if you'd like to support the café, the Support Us page has the details.

Thank you to Simon and the whole committee for trusting us with this.
